Thank-you from Kevin Bargmann

The Editor,

It’s human nature that we live in a community and often take it for granted until circumstances change in our lives. We then realise the friends, colleagues, organisations we belong to, people we know and unknown members of that community are always willing to help in times of need.

This happened to me. I was recently diagnosed with serious cancer and a poor prognosis. My circumstances were that I was in need of help, both in morale and financial support.

My family helped rally that support and I would like to personally and publicly express my sincere thanks to all those who helped.

Orana Country Music Association, of which I’m a life member, organised a couple of benefits for me and were supported by many organisations, performers and businesses from our wonderful community of Dubbo and beyond.

Many businesses helped, including Old Bank Music Shop, Picton Bros, Cobra Street Mini Mart, Kevin Hockey Solicitors as well as donations of kind to be raffled.

I was overcome with emotion at these events and the results of their efforts, and I certainly felt humbled by the experience.

The personal support that June and I have received from true friends and neighbours has been very uplifting for us and is helping us through this ordeal.

I really can’t say thanks enough, however, it is certainly heartfelt and sincere.

Thank you,

Kevin & June Bargmann

••• IN response to the story in last week’s Dubbo Photo News “Parkes flies for $99, Dubbo charged $165” and which asked “Would you drive to Orange or Parkes to secure cheaper flights?”, T.M. responded: In a heartbeat! Why wouldn’t I drive over an hour for a cheap flight if the alternative is to pay more than twice the price or drive nearly five to six hours to get to Sydney. It’s a no brainer.

Dubbo really needs to get with the times and offer reasonable priced flights to Sydney.

It’s definitely a factor (at a time when I’m considering whether to) stay more permanently in Dubbo as I am here for a contract for work from Sydney.

I would love to live here permanently but would like to know that I could get back to Sydney in case of an emergency with my parents instead of having to drive.
