THE THUMBS

-

Thumbs up

to Steve at Dubbo Autobarn for helping a lady replace windscreen wipers. Excellent friendly service!

&

Thumbs down to all those 4WD motorists who use their vehicles predominately for town and city driving. Their vehicles never see a dirt road, and are purely a status icon. Be honest, or learn to be more considerate of other motorists.

&

Thumbs up to a staff member at one of the local banks. She was very kind and patient with me when helping me sort out another bank account.

&

Thumbs up to Cunningham’s Brake Service for excellent, prompt, efficient service. Well done. Thanks so much for good old-fashioned service, from one very happy customer.

Thumbs up

to the security guard who works at Dubbo Square on a Sunday afternoon. I regularly see him dealing with kids making a nuisance of themselves and he always does it calmly and respectfully.

&

Thumbs up to the two gentlemen who took the time to stop me as I was leaving the farmers markets to tell me my front tyre had gone flat. It had only been pumped up recently, but it was nearly running on the rim! I probably would have ruined it if not for them, so thank you so much.

&

Thumbs down to the driver of a truck who couldn’t wait five seconds to give way to oncoming traffic, caused another driver to emergency brake to avoid a collision when he pulled out, and then drove at 30km/h for 500 metres before turning off.

&

Thumbs up to two magnificent paramedics Alison and Mark who on Sunday, July 1, looked after my wife so well in her hour of need. Very much appreciated.

We received both brickbats and bouquets this week for the variety of sports we cover in Dubbo Photo News.

To the person who wasn’t so happy, you do need to let us know when any event (including a sporting event) is coming up. The more notice you give us, the better the chances we’ll be able to include it in our schedule. Most of the photos and stories in this newspaper happen because of contact from our readers, and so if you don’t tell us about your sport, or invite us along, then we won’t always know about it.

Contacts for our sports editor and photographer are clearly printed in the sports pages so they can be contacted directly. We encourage all sporting bodies in the area to be proactive and communicate with our sports team.

Thanks to the readers who emailed to say thanks for our sports coverage – all noted that we give space to junior sportspeople on a regular basis, and also to a variety of sports – from touch to equestrian, from athletics to footy, from netball to basketball to the trots and lawn bowls and more.
