Game Masters won’t be able to cre­ate new ar­eas from scratch. A sep­a­rate mod­ding ed­i­tor will be avail­able, how­ever, con­tain­ing all the tools that Lar­ian has been us­ing to build

Orig­i­nal Sin 2, and any­thing cre­ated us­ing the ed­i­tor can be im­ported into GM mode. “The Game Mas­ter mode is re­ally about sto­ry­telling,” Vincke says. “You can cre­ate your own lev­els in the ed­i­tor, but it takes time to set up, so you can’t do this on the fly. That’s some­thing we iso­lated from look­ing at pre­vi­ous Game Mas­ter at­tempts; it was al­ways about giv­ing you full ed­i­tor func­tion­al­ity, but you ac­tu­ally never had the time to do it.”
