The latest to feature in what is quickly becoming Edge’s Videogame Fashion Corner is a line of Sonic The Hedgehog-inspired sportswear. Puma’s collaboration with Sega, released to promote the new Sonic movie, features several surprisingly stylish T-shirts, hoodies and trainers (for men and children only, however: please try to contain your sorrow, ladies). With the exception of a garish all-over print tee exclaiming “You’re too slow!”, the references to the games are kept subtle: a suggestion of a golden ring in a grommet, scoreboard printed stats on heels. All credit to Puma, then, for doing something we thought impossible – actually making Sonic look cool.
