Da Rocha and Jones are sanguine about the fact they’re making similar games, though Jones says they’ve both suffered some sleepless nights over it. “The fact that we’re competing probably means we’re both going to make half the money we would have – but then again, we’re not splitting the money in half!” he laughs. “I think it’s good that these games are coming out – hence this conversation, right?” Da Rocha says. “And that awareness of [ BPM] means you have to think ‘Okay, how are we different here?’ It’s like with the battle royale genre – there’s so many of them now that each one has to come up with a different hook. Exploring other avenues is going to be quite exciting.”
