Some of our most beloved beauty buys are getting a reboot for 2017.
Achieving cult status in an industry typically obsessed with newness is no easy feat. Winning over the hearts and minds (and beauty cabinet space) of women all over the world, then staying there, is as difficult as Kardashian-level contouring. But there are a few products that have not only managed to make the breakthrough, they’re now improving on their perfection.
ELIZABETH ARDEN Ceramide Capsules and their clever single-dose formula have been keeping complexions looking younger for nearly 30 years. But even old dogs can learn new tricks. This year’s incarnation has souped-up levels of old ingredients and a bunch of new ones (like extra skin-plumping ceramides, omega-rich oils and sea fennel to boost radiance). “It was important to upgrade the formula to address issues in skin ageing that are better understood now than they were before, thanks to research and technologies that weren’t previously available,” says the brand’s VP of global education and development, Janet Curmi.
CHANEL first bottled its Huile De Jasmin facial oil in 1927, back when bobs and finger waves were all the rage. The brand has revived the formula for 2017, but still suggests a thorough facial massage to increase the nourishing, glow-making powers. To dial up the dewiness, you can also drop some into your moisturiser or base when skin is feeling parched.
ELLIS FAAS Skin Veil Foundation has been a bestseller since it arrived on our shores in 2011, perhaps because some women were buying double then blending the two shades. So the brand was convinced to make a Baby Bear base shade, smack bang in the middle of the two favourites at 3.5, specifically for Australian women. “I heard that customers had taken to mixing two shades to create a fair/medium with a yellow undertone instead of pink,” explains Faas. “Mixing is not convenient for everyone, so I created it.”
