70S GLAM STUDIO

THE STAR, SYDNEY

-

If you’ve ever wanted to live out your born-in-thewrong-era fantasy of nights (and early mornings) spent at infamous New York nightspot Studio 54, The Star’s recently opened 70s Glam Studio is the perfect place to do so. While hotel policy may not allow you to ride in on a horse like Bianca Jagger (though she has since set the record straight in a letter penned to the Financial Times: “Mick Jagger and I walked into Studio 54”), there are enough super-instagrammable disco-themed interiors, velvet surfaces and mood-lit corners to make you feel like you’ve – at the very least – rubbed shoulders with a member of the Rolling Stones.

If your gang is partial to karaoke (ie. the only people worth hanging around), you’ll think you’ve died and gone to Mariah Carey’s Greatest

Hits heaven, with a full-blown karaoke lounge inside the suite, complete with a state-of-the-art sound system and huge screen on which to relive Bey, Kelly and Michelle’s best moves. The room, which can host up to 25 people for the night, is also home to a bar, a bathroom the size of most inner-city Sydney apartments and a suspended day bed – the perfect place to perch yourself while you decide which of the 409 group selfies to post on Instagram. When you’re all partied out, there’s the round “love bed” – which, let’s face it, despite the most romantic of intentions, you’re likely to crash out on with your makeup still on. Just be sure to kick off your boogie shoes first. star.com.au
