NECK TO KNOW

-

In our quest to stay looking fresh and young – but never done – light-touch needle work or regular “tweakments” that leave everyone guessing are on the rise. Ultrasound is the latest technology being used to address gravity’s pull on facial contours as well as hard-to-treat zones below the chin by targeting the muscles and fascia (what’s tightened during face and neck lifts).

“The neck and chest are the biggest giveaway of someone’s age and often the most difficult to treat – due to the delicacy of the skin and lack of sebaceous cells, they require a different approach than the face,” says Kaye Scott, co-founder of Sydney’s The Clinic, who has just added Ultraformer to her treatment line-up. “The ultrasound energy creates thermal zones in targeted layers of the skin to cause contraction, tightening and collagen stimulation. It’s a non-invasive method of treating skin laxity of the face, neck and eyes by lifting and strengthening the skin, while the contraction of the deep layer means you see immediate and long-lasting results with little or no downtime.”

For at-home maintenance, the Nuface Mini delivers a gentle microcurrent that acts as skin’s personal trainer: just five minutes a day keeps the facial contours, jawline and brow lifted and taut (if only it were always that easy). And don’t skimp on skincare. “Treat the chest, neck and face,” says Scott, who suggests carrying retinol, moisturiser and sunscreen below the neck.
