CIENNE
DESIGNERS: CHELSEA HEALY AND NICOLE HEIM.
HOME BASE: New York, US. THE LOOK: Relaxed but polished jumpsuits and separates – beloved by Gwyneth Paltrow and Emma Watson. It’s the brainchild of a duo from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology who also worked in design at Victoria’s Secret and bonded over a desire to create seasonless, sustainable garments. “The minimalist silhouettes and soft tailoring are beautiful, but what makes the brand even better is that everything is made in New York from textiles that have been handwoven by artisans from around the world.”
FANM MON
DESIGNER: SOPHIA DEMIRTAS. HOME BASE: US, Turkey and Ukraine.
THE LOOK: Breezy, A-line, frocks elevated by colourful Eastern European embroidery and slow-fashion principles. “I love how Sophia has updated simple shapes with playful embroidered motifs that can be customised. The dresses also make perfect beachwear.”
NOMADIC COLLECTOR
DESIGNER: STEFANI DE LA O. HOME BASE: San José, Costa Rica. THE LOOK: Sleek accessories that hark back to De La O’s training in architecture and industrial design. “Among the bags, which are made from carbonneutral leather and reforested wood, my favourite is the All Tied Up clutch.”
NOSOUJ
DESIGNER: BASMA ABDUL HADI.
HOME BASE: Amman, Jordan. THE LOOK: Cheerful, pompomaccented totes and pouches. Abdul Hadi’s quest to preserve traditional crafts while creating a luxury product earned her brand Positive Luxury’s prestigious Butterfly Mark for sustainability. “The bags are made by artisans in a small Turkish village using recycled materials, so no two are alike.” E
