NAIL AN EFFORTLESS AIR-DRY…

with Paloma Rose Garcia, Paloma salon

“Take a break from your hot tools and go wash-and-wear with your hair. Shampoo and condition with appropriate products for your hair type in the shower. When your conditioner is in, use a detangling brush or comb to brush out the knots and create your desired part. Once you’re out of the shower, scrunch-dry your hair with a towel to promote waves and movement. When the excess moisture is removed from your hair, apply products designed for your hair type. If you’ve got fine hair, I recommend a weightless conditioning spray and very light oil through mid-lengths and ends, medium hair types can go for a mid-weight oil and lightweight conditioning cream, and coarse hair will be best suited to a smoothing cream and oil. Cocktail your products in your hands before applying to hair, and apply to your ponytail only (unless you have extremely curly, frizzy hair, in which case you would apply a curl cream from roots to ends). Then use your towel to scrunch again to get any excess moisture out of the hair. After that, leave it to dry by itself – no brush, comb or fingers at all! Effortless.”

BRING BACK BODY… with Simon Bright, Jonny+june Hair

“Having flat, limp hair is common when we can’t get to the salon, but it can be helped. Start by blow-drying your hair upside down and to opposite sides, which will give you more volume. Once you’re done, style with your heat tools and don’t be afraid to try new things – grab your irons and curl, straighten and shag that ’do, but remember to always use a heat protectant! Get longevity out of your blowdry by using a dry shampoo and a texture spray each day until you wash it again.”

KEEP YOUR COLOUR FRESH… with Barney Martin, Barney Martin salon

“If you can’t get in for a colour, you might start to notice your roots growing through. Total at-home hair colouring can be tricky to master, so opt for some root touch-up sprays instead. You can also try putting your hair up in a top knot or ponytail to disguise any greys. Brassy tones in blondes can be knocked out with a purple shampoo, or other shades can benefit from a regular colour mask. Make it a relaxing ritual – run a bath, pop in a hair mask and add a face mask, too.”
