Giltrap Bale Feeder Release

-

Giltrap have announced the release of their proven range of bale feeders on to the Australian market.

The Giltrap name is well known for high quality farm machinery and the bale feeders are no exception.

Giltrap took over the 30 year old DML brand in 2005 and the experienced design team have worked with farmers to develop easy to operate, versatile and low maintenance bale feeders.

As with most trailed bale feeders the feed out area and the loading system do the most work.

Giltrap have paid particular attention to the feed out area by locating the aggressive feed bars at an optimum spacing to ensure bales of all types from hard to soft core are efficiently fed out.

Reliability, longevity and strength of drive chains are what most farmers look for. The use of large profile 7500 and 15000lb solid pin roller chains satisfies that desire. Chain adjusters on cast bearings make light work of chain tensioning if needed.

Fully enclosed drive shafts prevent feed from wrapping around them, and in turn save time by not having to clean them.

The use of Giltrap’s proven cast bearings require minimal service but have long lasting benefits. A simple push or pull of the tractor’s hydraulic remote controls provide feeding out to either side.

On trailed feeders, safe loading of bales of various shapes and weights, plus the removal of different types of wrapping is a serious consideration for all users.

Giltrap’s unique sequential hydraulic loading system provides peace of mind that bales up to 1500kg in weight will be easily and gently loaded onto the feed bed.

Full control of the bale at any position during loading further enhances this process. Bales are securely spiked for loading, then lifted to a convenient position for the removal of plastic or net wrap, and then lowered carefully onto the feed bed.

Giltrap have designed the loading mechanism in such a way that when the spikes are pulled from the bale, it is not lifted off the feed bed.

Knowing where to position the spikes to pick up the bale is simply taken care of by an ingenious stop on the lifting frame.

Stability is always a safety concern when feeding out and that is why the Giltrap G2X2 has an adjustable axle and a swivel towing eye.

The larger rolling diameter of the 11.5/80x15.3 wheels make towing the G2X2 easy and in situations where more flotation is required, wheels can be simply upgraded to the larger 400/60-15.5.

Storage for the removed wrap or net is always a frustration. The G2X2 comes standard with a large capacity twine box fitted to the front of the unit.

The streamlined shape of the twine box allows for sharp turns.

The lid is securely held closed with a heavy duty magnet which can also be used to hold a knife in a recess under the lid.

Giltrap have also drawn on feedback from users of three point linkage feeders to develop the G2 which has proven to be a very reliable and easy to operate feeder.

Being able to load and operate the G2 linkage feeder from either end saves time through less tractor movements. The feed out bed incorporates many of the same features as the trailed feeder.

Keeping weight close to the back of the tractor is achieved by having the lower linkage points mounted inside the full width head stock, meaning smaller tractors can handle this machine with ease.

The headstock has bolt-in high tensile tynes for loading bales and carrying the feed out bed.

Once coupled up, the two components are securely held together with a locking pin, easily released with a rope pull. High tensile cast steel drive couplings provide a long lasting, positive drive to the feed out chains.

Like the trailed G2X2 feeder the linkage G2 incorporates many of the same features providing the operator a feeder that can reliably and efficiently feed out their bales for many years.

The G2X2 trailed feeder and the G2 linkage feeder provide many benefits to purchasers and Giltrap recommends anybody considering a new bale feeder to speak with their local Giltrap distributor.
