High quality steel tanks come with a bonus
Preparing an overall plan for your rainwater harvesting and water storage is critical according to David Mortimer, director of Tankworks, who are the largest manufacturer of steel water tanks in the country.
Taking the time to calculate the catchment area, rainfall rates and proposed usage such as stock watering, irrigation, fire-fighting and household supply means that the important decisions on tank size and tank configuration can be confidently made based on all the relevant information.
“I have seen many customers think biggest is best but not realising with the given catchment it will rarely fill or, on the flip side, they have purchased an undersized tank and then have needed to add additional tanks later on, which ends up being a more expensive exercise”, says David Mortimer.
Tankworks Australia has been manufacturing long-lasting steel rainwater tanks since 1934 and is experienced in providing advice and support. With local representation and factories in each state on the east coast Tankworks is well set up with expanded delivery capabilities to offer a wide range of products to dairy farmers.
“The water tank game is very competitive and it’s tempting to cut out features and options to have a great entry level price. However we decided early on to keep important features in the tank such as true Z450 galvanised walls and heavy duty geofabric to supply a product we are proud of and know will stand the test of time. Many customers are seeing this value and making an educated decision”, explained Mr Mortimer.
The Tankworks tanks come in capacities from 24,000 to 370,000 litres in a wide range of colours, and with seven layer heavy duty polypropylene liners. Farmers can fully customise their tank with additional outlets, inlets and overflows as required. Each tank is fully installed on-farm by local qualified staff.
