5. going Legal

• from the files of only in the States… harley-Davidson is being sued by a rider that crashed for not having his bike fitted with ABS. though that wasn’t an option on the bike, when bought in 2012, it seems as if the odds are stacked against harley thanks to the piranha-like legal processes involved across the pond. it’s argued that because other manufactur­ers fit it, so should have harley. go figure…

6. fine? Er, Not Really

• new proposals for magistrate­s to be able to increase the limit for driving offences could come into power by the end of the year. currently the largest fine that can be imposed for the likes of speeding on the motorway is £2,500, but this could jump to £10,000 under the proposals. the government argues that these new financial penalties would be a more effective punishment for offenders – although the court will still have to take into account the financial circumstan­ces of the offender. it’s not law yet, but expect it to sail through parliament...

7 . Spend Money To Save Money

• motorcycle live tickets have gone on sale, with those chomping at the bit to get hold of them able to get into the event for just £10 (for the first 500), with normal advance tickets going for £17. this year’s show will be held between 22nd and 30th of november, and it looks like it will be a bumper year for new bikes to drool over. they go on sale on 4th August at 9am – head to www.motorcycle­live.co.uk
