The RR was a popular theft target, but you are quite unlikely to encounter a stolen example if you are buying a road bike. Trackday or race bikes are a different story and if you are buying a track bike, always check the frame numbers and never buy one without a logbook. The police do spot checks at race meets and sometimes even trackdays.
