CONVENTIONALLY UNCONVENTIONAL

To be honest, Ducatis are a bit of a lost cause when it comes to high-value exotica. They’re still the ‘two-wheeled Ferrari’ in most punters’ minds, so the prices are held up by people who don’t know a lot about bikes. The 916 family are generally overpriced now, although you could maybe justify a 748 if you find a cheap one. Our Ducati tip is a bit more subtle though: the Monster fleet is wide and deep, and there are some gems in there. The S4 and S4R have Superbike underpinnings, with 916 and 996 motors, top-notch Brembos and Öhlins scattered about too. Sweet single-sided swingarms ratchet up the glamour, and they’re great fun to ride. But, and it’s a big but, they’re not cheap, with prices ranging from £4000-£10,000. Too much? Then consider the S2 and S2R air-cooled 800s. Their motors are appreciably down on grunt of course, but they’re still a heap of fun, and have loads of classy design touches.

?? ?? Ducatis are like blowjobs; we’ve all had one. And if we haven’t had one, we want one.
