DANGEROUS BROD SAYS

-

Well it’s fair to say I didn't really know what to expect from the first ever Moto Time Attack event, and even sat in the briefing, myself and most of the other riders had no idea what we had in store.

For me personally it was an eventful one including sliding across the grass at the bottom of the mountain on my ass; yep Dangerous Brod is back on a race bike and some things will never change (mainly taking after the big bro in crashing lots). As I’m sure a few of you guys will remember I made a bit of a habit of crashing bikes last year but after half a season of racing this season I thought it was all in the past; yet loads of track time and some seriously tough competition meant mistakes came easily. This wasn’t helped by the fact that Bruce kindly decided to drop me in the Pro Class – I still don’t know whether he wanted me to look a twat out of my depth against a quality field of riders or encourage me to pull my finger out and ride a bike as fast as I could. Either way he succeeded. This is a key part of the Moto Time Attack – it’s all about racing the clock without the hassle of race starts or getting caught up in a battle on track, you make your own space and try to throw some quick laps together. It encourages you to push yourself and the bike to your limit knowing that in a twenty minute session you might get a new PB or even the fastest time in the group. It’s surprised me such a simple idea that started in the car world and has had such success has taken so long to make its way on to bikes in all honesty. One thing that is safe to say is after the success of this first meeting I'm pretty sure Mark Boxer (the organiser) will be keen to do a few more at different tracks and I will definitely be having another go.
