Nightmares…

-

So if our guys going along and winning it wasn’t enough for you, there were a whole host of other races and events going on. For starters, having riders like Gary Johnson and Carl Fogarty going up against each other in a class named ‘Hooligans’, it wasn’t going to take much to realise there was always going to be a recipe for some carnage; and they really didn’t hold back. With Foggy winning five of the six heats he was absolutely on the pipe, before highsiding behind Gaz and breaking two ribs and a shoulder blade and puncturing a lung.

Not ideal for the former World Superbike champ and I’m a Celebrity winner. Thankfully though, he’s on the mend and doing well (besides getting a proper bollocking from Mrs Fogarty, of course). So after all that carnage, excitement, chopper racing, ladies only events, and vintage speedway demos, Dirt Quake and all of its weird and the wonderful ventures, had come to an end. But what an awesome experience it was. And it’s set to get better as the future is looking pretty damn bright for the event in the next few years, especially after their growing success in the past five years, and moving to a weekend event for 2017. Not only was it streamed for the first time on ITV with a whole host of new sponsors, but they’re already looking at building Dirt Quake into a global event with races in the UK, Europe and the US.

Oh, and they’re also looking to extend it from the loose-dirt surface to having different races on mud, snow and sand. I don’t know about you guys, but the thought of that is making me more than a bit excited! We’ll hopefully see you there.
