PMJ DALLAS JEANS

-

TESTED BY: Charlie MILES: 1,000 TIME: 6 months PRICE: £229.99 WEB: www.tranam.co.uk TEL: 01425 620580 The label reads “The Safest Jeans on the Earth”, and although I cannot attest to that I have to admit that these bike jeans tick a lot of boxes when it comes to ‘non leather’ riding. The cut is well thought out for on and off the bike

leading tomaximumcomfort; wide enough at the bottom to cover a sports boot and the waist height is acceptable for lower back coverage without being too saggy in the arse for off-bike pub antics. The hip and knee protection comes via Knox. Fully removable hip armour is inserted into pockets that can be whipped out easily enough, though are not obtrusive when left in. The knee pads are inserted fromthe outside which is brilliant and the jean is tight enough to hold in position they so don’tmove around the leg. The denimis heat and cut resistant, interwoven with TWARON which is used in bulletproof vests no less, and according to Tran Am’s website is “strong as steel.” I have not crashed in these and wouldn’t want to in any ‘jean’ – much rather be inmy leathers. However, they are certainly strong, lightweight, heat resistant and extremely comfortable on. They also pass for non-bike jeans in social situations and I wouldmuch rather wear these than a conventional jean when on board. They also come with there own drawstring bag: nice touch.
