SLIPPING, SLIDING AND SAVING!

-

I’m sure I’m not the first to ask you this but here goes. How does Marquez save so many front end slides which would be crashes for anyone else in the MotoGP paddock let alone anyone else that’s human? The front can slide when the rider is entering the turn carrying lean and is more than likely to be on the brakes too, scrubbing off speed. The weight carried forward overloads the front tyre contact patch and it will slide, causing the front to tuck. This situation does not necessarily mean that a crash is inevitable if the rider is aware of what is happening. You may have read about riders saving front end slides on their knee, but if the rider is able to stay relaxed on the bars and gets on the throttle he can get the weight off the front tyres and onto the rear. This gives the front tyre the chance to recover and prevent the rider from crashing.
