Off-roading is thirsty work and there’s little chance I’d have gone the distance without my Kriega Hydro-3 on my back, which allowed for instant access to essential liquids. The Hydro-3 carries, unsurprisingly, three litres of fluid within a military grade hydration reservoir, that locates securely inside a tough nylon backpack. I liked how lightweight the bag was (850g), and how securely it could be strapped to my torso. Once on the move, I often forgot it was even there. There’s a pipe that feeds from the reservoir, with a bite-down-system in place to ensure fluids aren’t lost before you suck for them. It’s really hard to fault this bit of kit, especially so because it also had a big enough ancillary pocket for me to store some extra gels for when my energy needed a boost. Simply awesome.
