DUCATI 848
When Ducati launched the 848 many questioned its purpose in life. Too large in capacity to compete in any race series aside from a one-make cup, the 848 was an anomaly that refused to be put into a conventional motorcycling box. But Ducati knew what they were doing and the 848 provides a lovely entry into the Ducati superbike world without the intimidation and ferocity of the likes of the 1098 or 1198 models. It’s an excellent road bike, far more reliable than its predecessors and achingly beautiful, particularly in the pure white paint scheme. A truly lovely bike.
WATCH OUT FOR:
The updated EVO models are a bit feistier in terms of power, so if you want relaxed go for an early generation. Watch out for a service history and that the single sided swingarm’s hub hasn’t seized or been damaged by over-tightened pinch bolts.
