North East Ford & Performance meet
With such a no-nonsense name it’s no surprise that North East Ford & Performance’s club meets attract some seriously tidy motors...
T hey might like changing their name every year or two, but we always enjoy popping back along to visit Rach and her diverse crowd of members. Originally started as an RS-only club, it went on to welcome the ST variants too. The current (and I’m told final!) re-branding is appropriately welcoming for all Fords, and also any other interesting performance car too. The lineup for the day was a broad one too! Everything from STs to Mk2 Escorts, various Fiestas, a Cossie and even a Lancia Delta Integrale to justify the non-Ford open-ended ‘Performance’ part of their name!
Single-model clubs can be great, especially with the more plentiful models, but for all the unusual stuff (like a Racing Puma, or the immaculate beige Orion that rolled up!) it’s great to have these eclectic groups that are happy to welcome everyone. And that diversity never fails to create a great atmosphere; just like it did on the day with everyone nestled underneath a Vulcan Bomber at the North East Air Museum!
