SIERRA COSWORTH

-

We’ve seen Steve in the mag before, with his Cossie-powered Sierra XR4i. He still owns that car, but since tuning it to silly power levels he needed something a little tamer that he could use on a more regular basis. “The XR4i blew and engine back in June 2012, and I was so peeved off with it I went out and bought a Cossie!,” laughs Steve, “this Cossie.”

The car that Steve bought four years ago was very different to the one you see here however, especially under the bonnet. “It had a mismatch of different colour silicone hoses, loads of tacky shiny bits, and the wiring was a complete mess! I later found out, when sorting it all out, that the car had seen at least six different alarm systems spliced into the wiring!” Steve has since spent a lot of time rectifying the engine bay, which has seen the engine removed, the bay completely stripped and repainted, and then everything neatly secured back in place the way Ford intended. Of course, he’s made a few improvements along the way too, the biggest of which is a live mapping session by Tony Mannock of Turbosystems fame, which means this fairly standard YB now produces a very healthy 260-270bhp.

Steve uses the car as often as can: “It’s a weekend toy that I can take to shows., nights out like this, and just generally when the weather is nice. I still have the XR4i but that’s more of a ‘hooligan-spec’ car, this one is nicer to drive and is much better for my licence!”
