The biggest UK gathering of S550 mustangs to date...

The Mustang is proving a huge hit with UK Ford fans. Those who have longed after what is arguably the most iconic Blue Oval model ever made can finally, after a 50-year wait, get their hands on a fully UK-ready, right-hand drive model! So, unsurprisingly, Ford dealers’ order books are bursting with names of wannabe Mustang owners.

But if there’s one thing history tells us, it’s that owning a Mustang is only half the story. As with pretty much any other fast Ford model, the Mustang is set to be a modifier’s dream. With highlytunable EcoBoost or V8 engines to choose from, drop- dead styling to build upon, and 50 years of heritage thrown into the mix, it won’t be long before owners look to improve things and put their own stamp on the Mustang. We’ve only got to look at the Mk3 Focus RS as an example, many owners have pre- ordered upgrade parts long before they have even taken delivery of the car! And the Mustang is starting to show the same story.

So, to cater for this inevitable need to make the mighty Mustang even mightier, Steeda Autosports have recently joined forces with Ford main dealers Haynes of Maidstone, Kent. And to mark the occasion the duo hosted ‘Steeda Saturday’, an event which offered current, future, and prospective Mustang owners the chance to meet up with fellow fans to discuss all things Mustang. In fact, unofficially, we believe it is the biggest UK gathering of S550 models to date, with the entire dealership being taken over by customers’ and demo cars – there would have been even more, but a handful of attendees were still awaiting delivery of their cars! Still, the event attracted over 50 Mustangs of all shapes and sizes, with over half of those being the new S550 model!

As well as the fantastic coffee and (very!) welcome donuts on offer, Steeda also used the event as an opportunity to showcase their latest offerings for the new Mustangs. With everything from simple suspension upgrades right through to complete supercharger conversions, there’s plenty of options available when it comes to tuning.

The collaboration between Steeda and Haynes Ford is great news for Mustang owners, it means not only can you place your order for the new S550 Mustang direct from Ford, but you can also choose from a huge selection of performance and styling upgrades from Steeda while you’re still sat in the showroom.

Steeda offer a host of upgrades, but perhaps the most eyecatching are the Steeda Serialised Vehicles - these SSVs come as complete, turnkey upgrades offered with a full warranty. For UK buyers this means the Q Series Mustangs and the Steeda Mondeo Sport are available to buy direct from the dealer, complete with fully fitted performance upgrades.

The Q Series Mustang includes the Q350 Sport, Q500 Enforcer, and mighty Q750 Streetfighter packages. The entry-level Q350 Sport is purposely built for the Ford enthusiast, featuring power and suspension upgrades to provide more exciting performance.

The Q500 Enforcer is based upon the V8 model, and takes power to 495bhp-plus thanks to a host of performance upgrades, complete with suitable suspension and handling improvements to match.

And the simply staggering Q750 Streetfighter is a true monster! Delivering 777bhp it is the fastest road-going Mustang Steeda have ever built! And you can buy it direct from the dealer! It adds another £30k to the price of the car, but in reality that’s about the same sort of price as a BMW M4, or a Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe – both of which have 300bhp less!

The event was a huge hit, and one that both Steeda and Haynes say they enjoyed very much. Judging by the smiles on show, and the fact that customers were buying and having performance upgrades fitted by the Haynes technicians on the day too, we reckon those attending enjoyed it as much as the organisers.

And with an event like this proving so popular just a few months after the Mustang has landed on our shores, things are only going to get bigger and better for the UK Mustang scene, and we can’t wait!
