STOC DYNO MEET
The Hampshire STOC strut their stuff on the rolling road...
W hen winter hits the UK the show scene slows down, but with such an enthusiastic following the Blue Oval scene doesn’t hibernate over the colder months! Instead we move inside and out of the rain!
Which is what the guys and gals at the Hampshire STs group did recently, with a meet held at Devil Developments.
The colder temperatures were perfect for owners wanting to strap their cars on the dyno for a quick power run – remember colder air is denser, and therefore makes more power!
The car park was full of Ford’s finest offerings ranging from STs to RSs, from the now bargaintastic Mk6 Fiesta ST to Rich Fox’s monstrous Mk2 Focus RS!
There was, of course, a strong showing of Mk7 Fiesta ST and Mk3 Focus ST models too, with their easily-tuned EcoBoosts meaning they were pumping out some impressive figures.
But not to let the new kids on the block take all the glory it was actually Matt Woodford’s 556bhp Mk2 Focus ST and Ben Dickson’s 332bhp Mk6 Fiesta ST that proved to be the highest powered Focus and Fiesta on the dyno!
Not everyone who turned up ran on the rollers, but everyone enjoyed crowding round to watch
what the cars could do, as well as join in with the obligatory, albeit friendly, banter that comes with dyno days.
The experts at Devil Developments were on hand to offer tuning advice on what modification to make next, or possibly what could be holding the car back from getting that next milestone figure.
Overall it was a great day with a huge turnout, these club meets become important once show season has wound down to keep members active and give people a good excuse to clean their car and brave the salted roads on a dry day. After all it’s not only about the cars, but the friendships you make with fellow owners. And who doesn’t love the chance to meet up and talk with like-minded enthusiasts about a good ol’ fast Ford?!
