WELCOME TO THE SUMMER ISSUE!
Well, here it is – the big one, the Ford Fair special issue...
You may have already noticed it feels a bit thicker than usual, and that's because in order to cram in all the content we've got to bring you this month, we've had to add extra pages. This issue is now a whopping 164-pages as a result!
32 of those pages are dedicated to the biggest Blue Oval bash of the year, Ford Fair. From pages 80 through to 111 you'll find all the info you need to make the most of your time at the show. If you haven't booked your tickets yet, hurry up and do so!
Talking of Ford Fair, I can remember my first – back in 2005 with my old Saph Cossie. I had track time booked and I'd cooked the brake pads on a spirited drive to the show, so we quickly bought a replacement set at the show and fitted them on the stand! The man who helped me that day, and who is ultimately responsible (at least partly) for me becoming a fast Ford fan, appears in the issue too – Pete Wooltorton.
Way back when I was coveting after Pete's Sierra RS500, he had his eyes set on a scene icon of the time. And now, 20 years later he owns it. This month the legendary Turbosystems Sapphire, Snow Storm, breaks cover after nearly two decades off the road, and I'm pleased to say it hasn't changed a bit!
Indeed, time does fly. I mean who would have thought it was 20 years ago since the Focus first hit the road? That's classic car territory! You can remind yourselves of all the highlights from the model's 20 year rein at the top of the hothatch tree over on page 39. Part of what makes the Focus such a Ford fan's favourite is the incredible tuneability it offers. So to see how best to spend your cash, we asked the experts what upgrades they recommend for three different fast Focuses; the Mk1 RS, the ST225, and the Mk3 RS. See what they had to say on page 49. It's alright looking back fondly, and nostalgia definitely has its place, but it's looking forward when things get really exciting. Looking to see what's coming next, and the hottest thing around at the moment is the new Fiesta ST. We've been out driving it! Read what we thought on page 24. They'll be plenty of Mk8 STs on show at Ford Fair in a few weeks time, so you'll have the chance to take a better look. Of course, your favourite Ford mag will be there too, so be sure to pop over to the Fast Ford stand to have a chat, or just gaze at some of the incredible feature cars on display.
