JWR OPEN DAY

WHERE JW RACING, LUTON WHEN MAY 2018 To celebrate moving into new premises, and to showcase their talents and services to like-minded enthusiasts, JW Racing opened their doors and invited Ford fans to pop along to see what they’re all about…

JW Racing's open day naturally attracted a whole host of Fords.

What do you get when you merge one successful company with another – a killer open day. To the feeble-minded – ok, me – the talk of Amber Performance is one thing. And then it gets confusing because the words JW Racing are brandished about in the same sentence. Those of you who have been reading the mag for a number of years will remember seeing Amber and their products 25 years ago, back in the days when Cossies and RS Turbos were the mainstay of the Blue Oval tuning scene. Then, in more recent years when the fast Fiesta and Focus – and more recently, Mustang – models have taken over at the forefront of Ford fettling, JW Racing entered the fold. So, when Amber Performance bought JW Racing, and amalgamated the two, an awesome tuning company – catering for all models, not just fast Fords – was born. But, of course, the

Blue Oval is at the beating heart, so it’s no surprise to see so many fast Fords turn up for the company’s open day to showcase its new premises and services.

Not only does JW Racing cater for the incredibly popular ST and RS market, they are also making impressive waves in the Mustang scene too. It seems since the introduction of the right-hand drive S550 Mustang a few years ago, the marque has exploded. And with good reason too – as many people stress, it’s a blank canvass

– yes it comes with loads of standard equipment which is good but it can be so much better. It seems that no two Mustangs are the same, whatever you do to them.

There’s an even better reason to buy one too because there’s two versions. You’d think that everyone would want a V8 but it’s simply not so – JWR’s own development car is a 2.3-litre EcoBoost that produces in excess of 450bhp with over 500bhp the goal. That of course is an almost identical powerplant to the Focus RS – which has a knock-on effect with the experiences they’ve learned being transferred across both models.

Amber/JWR then are producing some seriously powerful, cars – their V8 products mean they regularly see over 500bhp with tried and tested packages. They have so much more behind them with support from the likes of Steeda, Anderson Composites, Super Pro Suspension and just about every well-known manufacturer that feeds this industry. Their shelves are packed with awesome kit to make whatever Ford product (and beyond) perform.

It made sense, then, to open the doors to show exactly what they do, and judging by the success of this first event, we’re pretty sure it’ll soon be a regular thing...
