ROLLING OVAL MEET

-

Rolling Oval took over Trust Ford Espom for an epic meet.

Ben is typical of the revolution that’s spreading nationwide – the conversion from Jap to all things Ford; and in particular Mustang shaped; “I wanted something that I could modify endlessly.” Consequently, dumping the previous Nissan GTR and Evo X, he bought his Mustang new with the intention of turning it into a track weapon. Although he admits; “It really needs lots of stuff to make it handle properly,” but that is part of attraction of these cars – an incredible powerplant to start with and the potential to make it do exactly what you want as the aftermarket performance industry is sorted so well.

The car has had the works done to it by JWR; to the tune of 521bhp – “that’s normally aspirated too – I’m not keen on forced induction for track use; tends to generate too much heat. As much power as possible N/A is what I was after,” smiles Ben.

Ben’s favourite track is Goodwood; “Really, it’s the facilities and atmosphere,” but he’s equally at home at the likes of Bedford Autodrome too. “I really have had a lot more fun with this car than any I’ve ever owned and it’s not just the car but the community that goes with it – just great and welcoming.” And from what we’ve seen, we have to agree.
