Fast Ford

ROLLING OVAL AT TRUST FORD EPSOM

When Rolling Oval members joined forces with Trust Ford to hold a charity meet, we just knew it would be a day not to be missed…

If Carlsberg did car dealers, this would be it. For one morning Trust Ford in Epsom was transformed from showroom to show hall, with some of the South East’s finest modified Fords on show. This was because Dave Briggs from Rolling Oval South England and James Rowe from the Mk1 RS Owners Club – along with a more than a few helpful and enthusiastic members from the clubs – secured the Trust Ford site as the host venue for a charity meet – with all proceeds going to automotive charity BEN.

So, from the crack of dawn – literally – the entire Trust Ford site was empty of stock and sales cars ready for some of the Ford scene’s very best to grace the showrooms

and forecourts. Old or new, standard or modified, there were fast Fords from every walk of life on show.

The cars inside the showroom were particularly special; all were show-winning examples, and worthy of their spots at the front of house – naturally, a few were previous Fast Ford feature cars too. Even Steve McQueen made it in his Bullitt Mustang!

There were all manner of fast Fords from the ‘70s to present day, so whether you’re into old school and classics, or the very latest in performance and tech to come from the Ford stable, no one was disappointed.

As much thought went into arranging the outdoor displays too, with cars nicely grouped so that you compare mods on similar models; a line-up of Mondeos met with RS Focuses, while further on classic Anglias and Escorts with many engine upgrades gathered with Mustangs, both classic and new – including a new Shelby GT350 with very big plans...

It was good to see a pair of Mk1 Mondeos – too long forgotten and now becoming a rare sight – and a couple of drag strip-ready Pops pulled plenty of attention too. All in all, it was a great day, with great cars on display in a great venue. But most importantly, it was a chance to share and enjoy our passion with a bunch of great people too.

Here are the best bits from the day…
