Full report from the first big event of the year at the NEC.

As the first major event of the calendar, Autosport International has built something of a reputation as the blueprint for the upcoming season – showcasing what’s new, what’s different, and what we can expect to see this year. For many, us included, it’s the curtainraiser event for the new year, offering an exciting glimpse of what is to come in the weeks and months ahead.

Whether you’re into competitive motorsport – anything from budget, entry-level club racing right through to Formula One, WRC, or BTCC, plus everything in between – or just have a perversion for sporty, go-faster, tuning products, then Autosport will have something to take your fancy. It’s the first place for many tuning companies to unveil the new products they’ve been busy developing over the last few months, and for race teams to announce their driver line-ups and planned attack on the various different championships represented. Plus, nowadays the show also incorporates the Performance & Tuning Car Show, which is like a minishow in its own right. While the main ‘Autosport’ show focuses primarily around motorsport and competitive racing, many of those same products from those same specialists are equally at home on performance-tuned road cars, and that’s what the Performance & Tuning Car Show is all about. Here you’ll find all kinds of exotic hypercars, performance tuned road cars, and more than a smattering of fast Fords. Add on top of that, the fact the show attracts more club displays – with Fords by far the best-represented brand at the entire show – and it’s a great way to combat the January blues and really start looking forward to the summer season ahead. So, let’s take a closer look at what Autosport 2020 had to offer the fast Ford fan…
