JOHN ORD & BILL HENDERSON ESCORT COSWORTHS
It was great to see a group of show cars at RS Croft this year, all belonging to RSOC members. Numbers may have been down compared to previous years, as expected, but the quality remained extremely high. Among them were these Mallard Green and Diamond White Escort Cosworths, owned by John Ord and Bill Henderson.
John had been keen to purchase one of these iconic cars for years and managed to pick up this wellcared-for example with just 69k on the clock and FSH for £12,500! It also came with a few choice mods including dark green injectors, stainless steel exhaust, upgraded fuel pump, a K&N filter, RS500 intercooler and Stage 2 map. Currently the Cossie produces a more-than-adequate 330bhp with the T34 turbo still in place, while the suspension has been upgraded with Koni dampers and lowering springs. Exterior changes are restricted to Morette headlights, though the white 18in Rondell rims certainly contrast well with the Mallard Green paintwork.
Bill also decided to bring his Escort Cosworth, another ’92 car with the T34 turbo still in situ, and looking just as cool in Diamond White with those eye-catching 18in Compomotive TH rims (yes, they do have OZ stickers).
Just like John, Bill was keen to get his mitts on an Escort Cosworth, and when this one popped up for a decent price, he couldn’t resist the opportunity. In contrast to John, though, Bill is gradually returning his example to standard spec, the hoses, orange indicators and fog lamps all having been recently replaced. A previously fitted chip remains (for now) and gives this EsCos circa 300bhp, so it still offers a spirited drive.
