Fast Ford

We catch up with the guys and gals at Ford Club GB.

We catchup with Annlouise Gooch to find out more about one of the most all-inclusive Ford clubs in the scene today

-

When was the club first founded?

RJ Chalkie started the club on 1 June, 2017, after co-owning the Ford Galaxy Owners Club. RJ saw something was missing from the car scene and wanted to create a group where all Fords are welcome whether they are classic or modern, standard or modified. The club has always stated if it has a Blue Oval we would love you to join us.

How many active members does the club currently have?

We have almost 17,000 members in the club at present and over 300 active paid membership holders (the membership is not compulsory) and this ranges across our Facebook group, Instagram and Twitter. We are also covering other social platforms such as our website, YouTube and Pinterest. Our members are from all over the world so it’s great to give everyone a place to come.

Which models does the club cater for?

The club caters for all models of Fords and we always welcome anyone who owns any Blue Oval. Over the years we have seen a wide variety of models join the club.

What does the club offer new members?

The club offers our Ford enthusiasts somewhere to share their passion with like-minded people. Our members are always there to help one another with any mechanical car problems or queries. We offer them a safe haven to enjoy what they love the most.

For all members we have the opportunity for them to get discounts on their car insurance, and our paid members have access to many discounts from specialists all over the country.

Over the years we have always told our members we’re not just there to talk about cars, but if they just need to let off steam, or need someone to talk to, then the inbox of the moderators and admin is always open.

Can you describe a typical club member?

A typical club member is someone who has a passion for Fords and wants to interact with like-minded people. A lot of our members create new friendships through the club. The age range is varied – we have a policy of over 18s but we understand that there are 17 yearolds out there who can drive and we do allow them to join. Also we have a good mix of male and female car enthusiasts.

What shows does the club usually attend?

Throughout the year the club will always try to attend as many shows as possible. This year we are attending Pure Ford, Ford Nationals, Cars in the Park, Fiesta in the Park, Simply Ford, Ford Fair, Forge Action day, Ford Power Live, and hopefully more if restrictions allow.

What’s the best thing about being a member of the club?

I asked one of our members Matthew Goodwin what they though was the best thing about being a club member. Here’s what he had to say:

“You get the connection to fellow enthusiastic car owners who shares the same passion about their fords and advice about any technical advice.”

We also asked member Dave Waite what he thought too: “I’ve been a member of the Ford Club GB for almost two years and I have to say it’s a great group; the admin team are brilliant (past and present) and always do their best to help out as do all the members. But there is one man I was lucky to meet at one of the shows last year – RJ himself. I would like to say a very big thank you for everything you do for the club. RJ, you’re one in a million.”

Where do you see the club in five years?

We hope to still be thriving and enjoying what we all love most, our Fords. And to still be attending lots of shows. We would like to say huge thank you to all of our members and to all of the hard-working admin team too. Long may the club continue.
