FAVOURITE COVER Some incredible artists work with The Square Ball. James Clapham pulled this off ( above) with our art director Eamonn Dalton at the start of 2017- 18. Yes, that is Steve Evans as an octopus and Garry Monk’s head on a snake; you’ll see outgoing owner Massimo Cellino at the bottom of the ocean and Shaun Harvey disguised as a starfish. If you’ve not followed Leeds closely over the last decade, I promise you: this is exactly what it has been like. MEMORABLE PLAYER/ MANAGER INCIDENT

Back when Ken Bates was in charge, our co- editor gave him a card of contact details and asked for an interview. So of course, Ken kept going on his radio station claiming we’d anonymously confronted him and “disappeared into the night” – and of course, we had to keep setting him straight. More recently, we mocked up a photo which claimed that the club were going to have fans holding up cards spelling ‘ Carajo!’

( roughly Spanish for ‘ F** k!’) – and merrily played along while the story was reported in Argentina as fact. MOST IMPORTANT STORY We’re proud of our approach to helping get rid of Bates by using artwork, humour and information. We keep it simple: tell the fans what’s going on, then let them decide what they think. Our ‘ Visit Beeston’ advert is still on Youtube, featuring Shaun Harvey as a waiter by a pool to highlight his absurd plan for our League One team to build a hotel. What on Earth happened to him?
