The big talking point among the

fans is the impact of COVID- 19. So many questions, so little precedence. It’s even more uncertain than usual!

This season will be different to

last because something has got to change. The football has been awful at times. We have quality players, as witnessed during our cup run. I won’t be happy unless we score goals! Honestly, what’s the point in finishing 15th with the league’s second- fewest goals scored? There is more to football than this. Our most underrated player is

Aaron Pierre, so consistent all of last season. I hope we can keep him.

Look out for Daniel Udoh. He began to make an impression last season and will get a chance given the lack of exciting forwards at the club.

The pantomime villain will be Jon Nolan at Ipswich. He left along with Aristote Nsiala during the whole Paul Hurst- to- Ipswich fiasco two years ago. The wound is still raw.

Save the date for Ipswich at home. They took the manager before our play- off final and lured away two of our best players, only to stumble and end up relegated. The best Shrewsbury social media account is @ B_ and_ A_ Fanzine.

Our key player will be Dave Edwards [ below], if he can last a full season injury- free. He makes a big difference and also breeds so much confidence throughout the squad. The fans’ opinion of the gaffer is that the jury is out on Sam Ricketts, after a couple of fallouts with his players, questionable tactics, bizarre selections and risk- averse decision making. We had a strong squad last season but it just didn’t happen, because the players and the system didn’t complement each other. If he left, he should be replaced by

Ryan Lowe, an ex- Shrews player who has done well in management so far. He’d be a good fit. Of the available coaches, I’d look at Nigel Adkins, Mick Mccarthy or Chris Hughton.

We’ll finish 12th. I hope that an improvement on goals scored, while maintaining our solid defence, will result in a slight improvement.
