OLLIE’S NAILED IT

Ian Holloway’s well- timed and very poignant first column about mental health was a great read. The simple message Ian promotes around the access to support is so important, but also seems frustratingly obvious – an individual who is in tune with their mental and physical health will undoubtedly perform better. I’ve subscribed since your first issue in 1994 – FFT is still a great and varied read. Cheers, Ollie!

DO ONE, RON RON

I have to say I’m baffled by Cristiano Ronaldo being selected at No. 2 in your list of the 100 greatest Premier League players [ FFT 322]. As I’ve seen in previous Manchester United features, his team- mates were long frustrated with him because he often didn’t deliver on much of that fancy footwork. Only in the last two seasons did he really start to shine, yet you have him above the likes of Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard and Giggs, who shone for three times as long; even Gianfranco Zola, who by your own words did so much to boost Chelsea above mediocrity. I don’t support any of these clubs, but can’t help feeling his selection was influenced by that incredible success after Old Trafford. He’s in the top 100, sure, but No. 2... really? CORINTHIAN CASUAL

Your superb feature on the rise of Corinthian figures in the 1990s was a brilliant nostalgia trip, reminding me of all those times I had to beg my poor mum to buy me some at Woolies ( then the sheer disappointment when I realised I’d be getting David Burrows, not David Beckham). It prompted me to dust off my own collection from the loft – the ideal way to spend some of Lockdown 3.0, if I don’t say so myself. As a West Ham fan, I was sadly never able to get my hands on the lesser- spotted Iain Dowie (£ 20 these days, according to ebay!), but was pleased to uncover the models of a surprisingly serene Julian Dicks and Slaven Bilic. Anyone got a spare Steve Potts?
