Gate inputs at the ready… prepare for rhythmic bursts!

We get up to four gate outputs from the Variatic Erumption. With drums or envelopes ready, let’s dive in!

-

01 >

Send in a slow gate signals to the ‘hit’ to trigger a rhythmic burst you can use as a fill for drum sounds. Try patching the End output to another sound to accent the burst with another sound triggered at the end of the pattern.

02 >

Using an external clock into the center of the module patch a slower clock pattern into the Hit inputs and use the Cnt controls to create two rhythms. Using a slow clock to Hit means we’ll get repetitive patterns turning this into a pseudo sequencer.

03 >

Patch the end output of channel 1 to the hit input of channel 2. When we then Hit channel 1 we’ll get a burst then at the end of the pattern channel 2 will trigger. Giving us longer more unique patterns across two potential sound sources.

04 >

You don’t have to stick to triggering drum sounds with the Variatic Erumption. Try using the main outputs and end outputs to open up envelopes. You can get two opposing rhythms or even call and response style patterns using two envelopes and both channels’ outputs.

05 >

With an on-board clock the Variatic Erumption can become the hub of a bigger patch. Take the clock signal out to sequencers and the outputs to reset inputs. Playing the hit and choke buttons will let you interact with the wider patch you set up.

06

We can control the rate of the internal clock via external CV and better yet it tracks 1v/oct (the standard for pitch information in a eurorack system). Try using an external sequencer to change the rate of your bursts per external sequencer step.
