In the studio with Scuba

“It was all in-the-box. Extremely simple setup. I’ve always used Cubase, so had that running off a PC, and very little else.

“Obviously VSTs. I used to chop up samples and stuff in WaveLab. The softsynth I used all over this album was the Arturia Minimoog, which still sounds great now, and it was extremely good then. I also used a lot of CamelPhat and CamelSpace.

“I did also use some proper recordings on this as well. I’d hook a mic up and hit stuff or clap next to it. I’m fairly sure all the reverbs I used were Waves TrueVerb, which still sounds great now.

“I would use the Waves C1 Compressor on the low end – on the subs. That was the one thing you had to know as a sort of dubstep producer. “Then the vast majority of it was chopping up samples and making kits. Then loading them into Kontakt. Then running that alongside the Minimoog. And also having Kontakt for the sub and 808. It was incredibly primitive [laughs].”
