Strawberry is the beautiful, dream-like debut album under his own name from US ambient producer, Chester Raj Anand, better known as Lord Raja. The first vinyl release from wonderful New York label, Quiet Time, Strawberry is a beguiling collection of minimalist piano and synth meanderings that are full of emotion, contemplation and melancholy. The record was made on a solo trip to Tokyo and his smudgy atmospheres and drifting tones conjure the feeling of loneliness and being an outsider in a world that rushes past you. Anand builds his reflective soundscape with a tape deck, synth sketchings and field recordings from his forays into Tokyo life. Recordings taken from street corners are blended into his soft, haunting productions alongside excerpts from Japanese TV and culture.
