Aston Mics to crowdsource latest design with ‘Project Element’

British mic brand Aston are taking a bold, user-driven approach to the design of their latest microphone, which is currently known as ‘Project Element’. Describing the project as ‘the people’s microphone’, the design and sound of Element is being guided entirely by public vote.

Following a first round of voting, Aston have now unveiled the look of the mic, as voting opens for a second round to help decide how the mic should sound. This isn’t entirely new ground for Aston though; the company tell us their previous mic designs have been guided by what they call their A33 panel, which made use of multiple pro producers and musicians to help shape the design of previous products.
