As Steinberg is a subsidiary of Yamaha, it’s no surprise that Cubase AI is bundled in with the MX88, and that several of its functions are designed to specifically integrate with Cubase/Cubase Ai. For starters, the MX88 allows you to transmit and receive audio and MIDI to and from your DAW via USB, plus there’s normal MIDI in/out connectivity too. Essentially, this means the MX88 can become a fully integrated 16-part multitimbral MIDI sound module and two-channel audio interface.

The DAW Remote function turns the MX88 into a fully integrated controller and there are also simple controller mapping templates onboard for use with Logic, Sonar and Digital Performer. All theses handy features help put the MX88 at the centre of your setup.
