Logic X via ex­ter­nal drive?

If you have an older Mac run­ning an OS ver­sion not compatible with Logic X, then you can in­stall Logic X on an ex­ter­nal bootable drive. Sim­ply grab an ex­ter­nal HD, for­mat us­ing the GUID par­ti­tion for­mat, in­stall the lat­est Mac OS and Logic on the drive, then hold down op­tion dur­ing startup to se­lect this as your startup disk.
