HOW TO BE UNIQUE

“Influence is great in writing music as it enforces an understanding of technique, but I feel this only allows someone else’s story to be told. Finding a uniqueness doesn’t have to come from using sounds no one else has used as that’s not possible in most cases, it’s more how you use these sounds consistently to create almost a trademark to your own work.”

Why are you in music?

“I think it’s important to always remember why you started making music, the industry is hard for most people and there are a lot of situations that cause you to lose focus, but if you remember why you’re making music it will always add clarity to your work.”

Automation

“Automation in my work has become so much more important. It’s great in creating extreme dynamics in work but also subtle details that allow something more repetitive to keep your attention… this could be done with delay interacting with a melody or reverb used to take your sound into a dreamy state.”
