How it works… Scales & Chords

At the most basic level, you can use the keyboard visualiser of this device to see what notes are being played. To restrict the input to a certain scale, select the Key (eg C, G#) and the Scale (eg Major, Minor), and all notes that don’t belong will be filtered out when the Filter Notes switch is activated. On the right-hand side, you can generate chords that fit with the scale you’ve selected. Here, you get control over the number of Notes per chord, and the Inversion played (from no inversion up to fourth inversion). You can add notes via switches, ‘Open’ the chords across the keyboard, and hit the Alter button to vary a chord.
