Galston Concerts’ Bach’s Birthday
Bach Bonus for Galston
The Galston Concerts grow from strength to strength with the addition of a Bach's Birthday bonus concert on Sunday 20 March.
A 3pm start in Galston Uniting Church will find trumpeter Bruce Hellmers and organist Pastor de Lasala performing bubbly Baroque music by the great Johann Sebastian Bach, his contemporaries Handel, Vivaldi and more.
After many years as a 'heard-but-not-seen' member of the opera and ballet orchestras at the Sydney Opera House Hellmers career takes new paths with recitals and tours including concerto solos in Rome, Florence, Venice, Vienna and Prague in October.
Organist at Sacred Heart Mosman & Mosman Uniting Church, Pastor de Lasala tours annually to concertise in Europe, especially France, including Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
Pastor's expertise in historic organs is perfectly matched to the 20 March recital on Galston Uniting's superbly restored 1887 English pipe organ.
Galston ConcertsYoung Artist Joseph Eisinger will offer the contrast of music for solo cello by Bach and Peter Sculthorpe.
The program of secular music nevertheless reflects the span of Holy Week from the triumph of Palm Sunday to the sorrow of the Passion.
Bookings for 20 March - $40, $30, $15 with chidren 12 and under free when accompanied by a ticketed adult – are best made on-line with www.trybooking.com/KFXF or www.trybooking. com/179743
