Bach Bonus for Gal­ston

The Gal­ston Con­certs grow from strength to strength with the ad­di­tion of a Bach's Birth­day bonus con­cert on Sunday 20 March.

A 3pm start in Gal­ston Unit­ing Church will find trum­peter Bruce Hellmers and or­gan­ist Pas­tor de Lasala per­form­ing bub­bly Baroque mu­sic by the great Jo­hann Se­bas­tian Bach, his con­tem­po­raries Han­del, Vi­valdi and more.

After many years as a 'heard-but-not-seen' mem­ber of the opera and bal­let or­ches­tras at the Syd­ney Opera House Hellmers ca­reer takes new paths with recitals and tours in­clud­ing con­certo so­los in Rome, Florence, Venice, Vi­enna and Prague in Oc­to­ber.

Or­gan­ist at Sa­cred Heart Mos­man & Mos­man Unit­ing Church, Pas­tor de Lasala tours an­nu­ally to con­cer­tise in Europe, espe­cially France, in­clud­ing Notre Dame Cathe­dral in Paris.

Pas­tor's ex­per­tise in his­toric or­gans is per­fectly matched to the 20 March recital on Gal­ston Unit­ing's su­perbly re­stored 1887 English pipe or­gan.

Gal­ston Con­cert­sYoung Artist Joseph Eisinger will of­fer the con­trast of mu­sic for solo cello by Bach and Peter Sculthorpe.

The pro­gram of sec­u­lar mu­sic nev­er­the­less re­flects the span of Holy Week from the tri­umph of Palm Sunday to the sor­row of the Pas­sion.

May 7 and 8 sees the cul­mi­na­tion of the 2015-2016 Gal­ston se­ries with a fes­ti­val weekend of Mostly Mozart from Vi­enna's En­sem­ble I after their Clas­sics Con­certs Cruise for Princess Cruises in April.
