The Jam-Packed Year at the Galston Equestrian Club has Begun!

- Amanda Benson with a student on our Training Day

Our Registration Day on Saturday 6th February was very successful with returning members and many new members keen to enjoy all GEC will be offering this year. Check our new website (www. galstonequestrianclub.org. au) to see all the various competitions and activities planned for 2016. There is bound to be something that interests you! The car boot sale was a hit, with happy shoppers going home with great bargains, and the sellers left with much less to pack up than what they brought!

On Thursday 11th February, we had a very informative talk by Nicolle Murray on the benefits of Joint Performance at the Galston Club, which was a most enjoyable evening, socialising and meeting many new members.

Our first Training Day on 14th February, was well attended by members wanting to be instructed by expert trainers Kate Taylor-Wheate (dressage), Peter Turner (flat work) and Amanda Benson (show jumping). The feedback from riders was excellent, with everyone benefitting from their instruction and having fun, and asking when can we do it again?! Thank you Kate, Peter and Amanda for helping our riders improve their skills.

Our second training day will be on 13th March – a busy day planned with a show jumping clinic with Keira Byrnes, a local NCAS level 1 coach who has competed up to 4 star level at the Adelaide 3 Day International. The information flyer is on the GEC website calendar and Facebook for keen beginner to advanced show jumpers. There will also be a free Natural Horsemanship demonstration from 10.30am by Neil Pye, Australia’s most senior Parelli instructor, which will be followed by “How to solve horse float loading” at 12.00. This demonstration is open to both members and non-members, and an opportunity not to be missed. See the website or Facebook for more information.

Dressage riders are looking forward to our first dressage competition of the year - our Members Only (Restricted) Dressage Day on 28th February. This will be a relaxed and informal day (no plaiting or jackets!) to get everyone started for the year and to give a different test a go! Lovely judges Pam Dalrymple, Sue Lewis and Nicole Pullen will be giving us the benefit of their expertise.

Keep informed with upcoming events by looking at our gorgeous new website!
