Monastery Fair Sunday 13th March The 51st annual Benedictine Monastery Country Fair will be held at the Benedictine Monastery 121 Arcadia Road Arcadia on Sunday 13th March from 10:30am. This will be a wonderful family day with all the popular fun activities such as a jumping castle, face painting, merry-go-round and a chocolate wheel. There’ll be cake, plant, farm produce, white elephant and many other stalls plus the opportunity to take guided tours of the monastery. Funds raised support the overseas Benedictine Missions that are helping to take care of some of the poorest people in the world. Easter 2016 Easter is early this year – it will be celebrated on the final weekend in March.

9am Parish Centre Project Compassion Throughout Lent, the six-week period between Ash Wednesday and Easter, we support Project Compassion, with households making Lenten sacrifices and collecting donations in Project Compassion boxes. Run by Caritas Australia, Project Compassion is celebrating 50 years of raising funds to empower the world’s poorest children, woman and men with vital learning and renewed hope. The program’s motto is ‘End poverty, Promote justice, Uphold dignity’. St Benedict’s parishioner Sophie Rebula from Glenorie is shown at the beginning of Lent with her project Compassion Box. Educational programs The new school year is in full swing with all the local schools being visited regularly by trained Catechists. The parish sacramental program has started, too. Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will be celebrated in March and May respectively in the parish.
