Galston Garden Club

- Christmas at Savannah

Our first meeting for 2016 was enjoyed by many members. It was so great to catch up with this happy crowd. We held our AGM and selection of Office Bearers, and volunteers, and then were entertained by our Patron, Judy Horton, who presented a scintillating power-point presentation of her latest trip overseas. This took in cruises and land travel through Holland, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, and the British and Irish coastlines. Wonderful gardens, history, art, music and gourmet delights. Look at www.botanica.travel to choose from a myriad of trips.

Fragments of fun at our Christmas Party were being recalled where 87 members enjoyed this event at Hugh and Richard’s “Savannah”. We are so grateful for this superb venue.

We are so fortunate to have members Judy Horton and Elizabeth Swane, and many other very knowledgeable people sharing their interests. However, it doesn’t matter how little or much you know, come and enjoy great evenings. We have really interesting speakers, day trips, trips away, dinners, and of course, our Open Gardens.

If you have a property you feel you would like to include in this year’s Open Gardens, or know of someone else’s, please contact Bill Fleming on 9653 2394 as soon as possible. We are so fortunate to live in an area that boasts beautiful gardens. You’ve done all the work, so it would be good to share it with other garden lovers who appreciate your efforts.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 9th March, 8.00pm at the Galston Community Centre, 37 Arcadia Rd, Galston. Guest Speaker is Maroun Maait of Alpine TreeMovals, talking on the Nursery and Tree Moving business.

We are looking forward to a local garden ramble on Friday 18th March and a day trip to Kangaroo Valley visiting spectacular gardens on Thursday 7th April.
