Big Futures for Little Arcadians

-

It was smiles all round as Kindergarten 2016 kicked off their ‘ big’ school careers at Arcadia Public School. They are pictured here with Mrs Crouch wearing their very special welcome gift from our generous P&C, an I’m a Little Arcadian T- shirt, very cute! The Kindies weren’t the only ones making new friends. Their mums and dads enjoyed a reassuring cup of tea and a chat with understanding parents who’ve been through it all before.

Mrs Archer also appreciated her warm welcome from the Arcadian school community as this year each of our students commences Mandarin language lessons. Infants and primary school are the most ideal time for students to commence learning about languages. It is an excellent vehicle for promoting memory and thinking skills, developing empathy and understanding of others and a curiosity for different cultures and ideas.

In early February our captains, Ashlea and Jack, and vice captains, Tsara and Oliver attended the student leadership camp at Vision Valley. It was a great opportunity to hone their public

speaking abilities, meet new friends and practice the skills of cooperative team work. Student involvement in decision making and planning is promoted and valued at our small school.

Galston Pool was the venue for our 2016 swimming carnival and as usual it was an exciting mixture of edge of the seat competition, fun, cheering and splashing in the novelties. Best of luck to our swimmers who will represent their school at the Homebush Aquatic Centre in the zone carnival later this month.

Saturday April 30 will see our beautiful grounds full of shoppers on the lookout for that unique gift for mum. Come along and enjoy the fabulous Arcadia Markets.

We invite you to find out more about the great opportunities for your child at Arcadia PS. Contact our school office on 96531207 or visit arcadiaschool.com.au
