Galston Public School

- By Carole Weiss

As Term 1 draws towards to an end, culminating in a colourful Easter hat parade, a visit from a very happy ‘Easter Bunny’ and a delicious morning tea of hot cross buns under the school’s beautiful leafy trees, Galston Public School students have much to be proud of. Their efforts have ensured a wonderful and productive start to the year.

The two kindergarten classes KW and KB have settled in very well to their class routines. They are engaging and enjoying interesting class activities and almost too soon, it will be the end of their very ‘first big’ school term.

School Captains Henry, Grace, Nick and Stella are setting an excellent standard by demonstrating responsible leadership. They along with the SRC just recently organised a very successful Mufti Day. The results of the gold coin fund-raising was donated to the ‘Guide Dogs NSW/ACT’ organisation which exists to enhance the quality of life for people living with blindness or impaired vision.

A courageous and determined team competed at the Beecroft Zone PSSA Swimming Carnival which was held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Homebush recently. The day was a great experience for the team, especially with the senior boys’ relay team which took out third place. The competition was tough and tiresome, however all the students swam competitively and proudly represented their school.

Congratulations to the 7-a-side rugby league team for their success in the Peter Wynn Shield, finishing as runners-up in the B Division. This fine team of boys not only demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship but as well helped pack up equipment at the conclusion of the carnival. The NRL Development Officers were particularly impressed with their manners.
