Monastery Fair Sunday 13th March

The 51st annual Benedictine Monastery Country Fair was a wonderful success and the organisers have asked that their thanks be passed on to everyone who worked on the day, made donations and, most of all, supported this long-established event. Funds raised will go to support some of the neediest people in Australia and overseas. Jubilee Year of Mercy

Pope Francis has declared 2016 a Holy Year of Mercy. Parishioners participated in a twenty-four-hour Year of Mercy prayer vigil at St Benedict’s in early March and each week our Parish Bulletin has suggestions for other ways to support the Pope’s aims in this special year. A typical suggestion is to do something kind and helpful for someone you don’t get along with, or who has annoyed you. This would be truly following the teachings of Pope Francis and Our Lord Jesus. We had a joyous celebration on the 6th March to commission the members of our catechist team, the generous people from the parish who teach God’s word in our local schools. The picture shows Parish Priest Father Bernard leading the ceremony and welcoming and thanking the catechists on behalf of the parish. This happy occasion concluded with a family barbecue after the 9am Mass. Parish Centre refurbishment

Work is continuing on re-arranging the layout of the Parish Centre so that we can all celebrate together in the main section of the church building. Newly painted walls and ceiling have certainly smartened things up.
